This laser is awesome, u can see the beam very very far at night, very handy and cool. I use this everyday. It can burn rubbish bags, but I didn't manage to light matches.

Great laser pointer for astronomy use

Don't know or care much about bursting balloons or lighting matches, but the beam on this laser is excellent for even large groups around an astronomer at night, and the beam is very visible, even on bright moonlit nights or in highly light polluted locations. Measured current consumption 430 mA with newly recharged battery.
Pros:Good battery life, highly visible beam at night, comes with 1200 mAh battery
Cons:charger for battery must be bought separately

BRIGHT!

Laser arrived in about 2 weeks (China to U.S.) with no issues, delivered to my mailbox in a padded manila envelope. Inside was a yellow cardboard box with the laser and battery in a foam cutout.
The laser host is black anodized aluminum, looks like a tactical flashlight and has a waterproof rubber covered switch button on the back. The threads for the battery cap look good and the cap screws on securely.
I don't have a charger for the supplied lithium-ion battery, so I am using a standard lithium CR123a camera battery.
The laser is EXTREMELY BRIGHT. The beam is faintly visible indoor on a sunny day with the windows open. The beam is clearly visible with the curtains drawn, and really stands out in a darkened room or outside at night. The reflected spot is incredibly bright, and probably not good to look at.
Please be careful if with this laser. It can damage your eyes (or someone else's) easily and permanently. Even the spot reflected off a white painted wall can dazzle your eyes. DO NOT point it at aircraft, people, animals or shine it in someone's home. Hooligan behavior like this is what gets these things banned. If you can't use it responsibly, don't bother buying it.
Finally, I don't know what the duty cycle is on this unit, but I would not recommend running it for more than 15-20 seconds without a rest period to let the driver and diode cool down. Also, don't drop it or the crystals may get knocked out of alignment.
